Install sunroof?
So I miss my wrangler and want to install a sun roof on my cherokee. My cherokee is an 89 and I need to replace the upholstery in the cieling anyways. So I am looking at a possible install of a sunroof. Has anyone ever done this in their Cherokee? I would just install a manual one that I can pop up or pop out. Please give me your inputs and if you have please post a pic and let me know what you did! I dont want to cut a big hole in the roof if I cant get it to work haha.

Is this unheard of? Just wondering if anyone has pondered the idea or actually done it. I looked around on the web and saw a few things but would like to see one that someone did and give me some tips.

My 89 has one, I just got it about a month ago and just now getting it on the road. I'm not sure if I will like the sunroof though, it looks like it may have had some leakage in the past. I guess I'll find out soon enough. I will try and get some pics that show what it is like.

Ya I have an 89 as well a 4dr 4x4. Mine is not on the road yet and I have alot of cosmetic things I need to do so I can (replace front end, replace tail lights etc.) drive it. The sunroof is in my mind for maybe in a few months kinda thing when it warms up.

Sunroof was an option from the factory but you don't see very many of them. The few I have seen over the years have always had a leaking problem. Some folks have sealed them permanently closed because of this leaking.

I have looked into it and called a company that sells them for the cherokee the emailed me the instructions looks easy enough you can get them new for around $200.00
I love taking my angel grinder to some sheet metal any day but something about this seemed scary looked into having it installed as well about another $150.00.
One day maybe let me know how it turns out if you get one. I can also send you the email instructions just PM with you email

I would find a sunroof equipped xj and get the headliner as a template as to where to put it. I also would get the trim associated with the sunroof. Most of the times sunroofs leak cause the seal is dry rotted and cracked. Keep a good plyable seal in there as well as a lil lube (wd-40) and you will have no issues.
