rear shock mounting
I am having a hard time visualizing a good rear shock set up. Just looking for maybe some inspiration or ideas. Preferably hoops (homade or not) and ill be moving my lower mounts to the center of my rear axle(up and down not left right)
And I've got 6" bumpstops mounted in the stock location

shock hoop kit from liquid iron industries mounted to the outside of the framerail. lower mounts on top of the u bolt plates. Measure for travel and cut to fit.
( i later used large hose clamps to fasten the resivoirs)

10" foa 2.0s.
The closer to the tire, the more effective the shock. It just so happens that you have to go to the floor to achieve this on an xj. And you can fit virtually any length shock this way, just need longer hoops to match. I only went with the 10's because I already had them, and they still offered plenty of suspension travel.

What backspacing on your wheels and what was your wms on the rear axle? Then, how much clearance did you have between the shock and the inside of the tire when the back end was flexed out?

But thats not an issue even on stock rearends with more backspacing.
Its closer to the inside of the rig than the inner fender (as you can tell) if your tire doesn't hit that inner fender, then it won't find its way past that and into the shock

Well im going to be doing the coilovers. Didnt want to cut into the back cargo area if I didnt have to. Think there is a chance of running them between the fender well and tire? I would support the top of the shock hoop by running a piece of tube out to where my tube fender flares and C pillar meet.
