Talking WTB: Jeep Cherokee XJ / Mk.2 Orvis Parts

Hello all,

I realize this is a tall order, especially in the States, but does anyone have any XJ / Mk.2 Orvis parts they are willing to sell? I am specifically looking for the woodgrain interior pieces such as the ashtray, shifter bezel, and radio dash bezel, as well as other parts like the back hatch spoiler, mud flaps, and hood vents. I already got my hands on a set of fog tail lights.

Thanks!

P.S. I am willing to trade too if need be--I have an entire 97 XJ parted out, as well as other things such as manual window parts. Food for thought.

I belong to most, if not all, of the Jeep groups on Facebook.
While I find most barely tolerable there are a couple exceptions.
And one of them is the The UK's Jeep XJ Cherokee Owners Community.
The guys are pretty cool there and seem to put up with "Yanks", at least with me (LOL), best I can tell.
Figure they are more prevalent over there and figure go closer to the source.
Now whether you will find what you need and if so would they be willing to ship to the US is unknown.
But won't know till you ask.
Now on a side note I have spent the last 13 or so years turning my '00 Sport into a Limited, Up Country, Police Version, European XJ Orvis clone.
Couple things can be gotten around that you mentioned.
Hood vents on the Orvis are ghetto stickons.
Sourcing '98 Grand Cherokee 5.9 hood louvers will get around that.
And they are functional with drip trays so....

Also a company called SpoilerLights made a replica of the Orvis spoiler.
I like it.

And it might be the only way to get one.
One day in the group I asked how they were attached.
Was told that they were glued on so well that trying to get them off just resulted in it coming off in pieces.
But sometime ago a guy in that group listed some for sale so......

Thank you for the advice! I appreciate it immensely. I like the sound of your Jeep from how you describe it--the two photos are slick. I am attempting to do something similar with the police package and other accessories to my white bare-bones 99 XJ--though I will keep my manual windows. I already got a set of UK rear foglights and while I doubt I can find the wiring harness, I think splicing into the standard foglights should not be an issue. I was not aware the hood vents on the Orvis models were nonfunctional. That is silly. I have heard of the Spoilerlights brand, I thought those were glued on considering it's aftermarket, hence I figured the OEM versions would have better mounting hardware. I guess I was wrong there too. I like the look of additional woodgrain parts in the cab. I wish Chrysler would have done more for the US limited versions besides the door panels and radio dash bezel. I will definitely go check out that Facebook group. You are right about the shipping factor being unknown because of the few British folks I spoke to, none so far have been interested in shipping to the States--which is a shame.

The SpoilerLight spoiler can be double side taped on or bolted on.
They put threaded inserts in there when they made them.
But not wanting to drill the hatch used the tape it came with.
Tail light harnesses are short.
So you might be able to source at least that part.
But the rest of the wiring will have to be rigged up.
Want to see cool wood grain features.
Check this out. Called the Endeavor and best I can tell like a Swiss or Polish export.

I sourced a 4 switch bezel from the UK to run an Ext Idle I bought.

And bought these off Ebay. The sellers were saying they were factory but I was pretty sure they were not.
My curiousity got the better of me so I bought them.
Parts of those aftermarket wood grain kits you can buy.
But they matched my Limited radio close enough so all was good.

I see. Given the trouble I am having trying to source anything Orvis, I will likely just splice my rear foglights once I set up the wire harness for the front foglights.

Dang it Ralph haha, I thought I had reached the peak of my XJ part-collecting mania with the Orvis, but you show me more! That Endeavor looks really slick. I love wood-grain interior pieces. I want to convert my manual window panels to have the wood grain strips that the limited panels have, but I would have to go out and buy a set, albeit an expensive set, only to dismantle them and then I would have to reupholster my door panels on top of that. Besides the upgrades I am painstakingly installing in my bare-bones XJ, I am also doing a color shift pattern with the interior plastic paneling. I have an entire set of everything in both camel and saddle, so I am interchanging pieces to give it a unique look.

I like how yours turned out. That woodgrain steering wheel accessory is a nice touch. Finding a 4 switch panel too, is pretty lucky. Of all the rare accessories I intend to get, I have only managed to find the rear foglights, toolbox, and spare tire subwoofer so far.

4 switch bezel are a dime a dozen over there.
Or at least they used to be.
Because of the rear fog lights. Like it is a law that they have them or something.
I would love to find some of those pieces from an Endeavor but I can't picture that ever happening.
I have always wondered why they did not do something in wood grain with the transfer case shifter.
Not sure of this but pretty sure that Limited wood grain door panels are different the Orvis panels.
And when it comes to the Camel interior in '99 and up the cool thing, IMO, about the regular panels is that they are 2 tone.
Not the case with Limited Camel door panels. Those are not.
Haven't done the fronts yet but painted them to get what I want.

I have sourced the subwoofer and harness but have yet to install it. No idea if it works.
Curious as too what you mean by the tool box.

I checked on UK eBay a few times, no dice. I figure most people do the same thing; either that or it's called something else there.
Regarding the Endeavor, yeah I doubt any of us will ever get our hands on that--I agree there. I am aware the limited's wood grain is different than the Orvis. Snatching a set of those would be easier than tracking down Orvis panels. I am also aware that the limited panels are not two-tone--though I like the carpet look on the armrests. If I can figure out what material that is, I may redo mine in black. Overall I just want the wood grain. Would it ruin the limited panel to dismantle it to put said woodgrain on my manual window panels? Yes--because as far as I know no manual window panels had such accents. But that is the price you pay for achieving the look you are going for. Oh yeah, I could just paint everything--true--but I already have all these interior pieces. May as well use them. I do think the paint will come in handy when making them look new for sure, especially on the top of the door panels where the sun has faded them.
You have the subwoofer too? Nice! Out of curiosity, do you have the manual? Mine did not have one and I would like to know where it would have plugged in at.
The toolbox fits in that cubby hole on the passenger side, rear. I attached an image below of one. Mine does not look that pretty. The previous owner spray-painted it silver and it's flaking off so I have to clean it up. From what I have learned, the boxes were made by a company named Lido out of Texas back then. They either have the Jeep logo or the Lido logo. Mine has the Lido logo. It's lockable too. I believe there is still one floating around on eBay...if you can stomach $500. I got mine for a decent price, luckily. They pop up now and again.

That is what I thought you meant for but for a second wondered if you meant this:

Dealer accessory called the CD Enclosure for the 6 CD Changer that was also a dealer accessory.
I was able to buy what you have years ago local to me but figured cause I have this would never use it so sold it.
Mine said Lido, who makes them, but some also said Jeep. The real unicorn when it comes to these is the driver's side one.
Only ever seen it in a picture.

The harness that came with sub woofer makes it plug and play.
I would have to dig it out but IIRC it plugs into the black connector off the dash harness that goes to the black connector on the back of the radio.
Then another black connector on the harness goes into the radio.
Spliced in sort of speak.
I also kinda remember a couple grounds, and a power wire with a little fuse holder in it.
And not mention the plug on the harness that connects to the subwoofer itself.

The more you know. It seems I am learning about another rare accessory for the XJ every day. I am tearing apart my XJ as we speak, so my interior is bare at the moment. I will look for the plugs you speak of, but if you do happen to find that manual, I would appreciate it immensely.

Forgot to mention that I don't have the manual.
Bought mine used too but it did come with the harness.
Do you have the harness?

Darn. Yes I have the harness, or at least the part that plugs into the subwoofer itself, but the previous owner was too lazy to remove the whole plug going towards the radio, so that end was cut. If I knew what plug style it was I could substitute it. I have a bunch of extra wire harnesses I can chop up if need be.

I am aware... what's your point friend? Or are you making a list for the sake of the thread? Are you offering them for sale?
