Easy way to spot an 8.25 from a D35 - D35 use a rubber fill plug while 8.25 has one you must use a 3/8 rachet to get off.

Another quick way to tell if it is a 8.25 is that flat surface on the bottom of the diff. (pictured). The D 35 is completely oval all the way around.

As far as im concerned that is the best way to tell.

the only true way to go in the rear is a shackel. some people do blocks but to me that is plain redneck no pun intended. they are for looks not for wheelin', plus if you do wheel them tehy are unsafe. just my opinion.

X 2 on that. They are very unsafe and may cause you to fail tech inspection in some places I have wheeled.
