At operating temp, it's the same viscosity as 10w-30...

Until someone can prove to me that X is the best oil and Y has the best filter, I buy both when I find a good sale. This way I can also change the oil and filter as often as I like. It's what suits me that counts.

Watch this then. The filters are the big issue.

Old wives tale. Paraffinic-based oil are very high quality. Has nothing to do with paraffin wax.

Basically, any oil with a modern rating (SL,SM,SN) is good quality. Choose one that is priced nicely and readily available to you.

There you go. Someone who's actually found what oil works best for them! Just drive it

I'm wondering if the eng hasn't been rebuilt. it was a state owned vehicle. I'm the first person to title it. it has 138k miles on it and carries 45lb of oil pressure at a hot idle. I bought into the zinc protection etc but my jeep didnt like rotella 15w40. at all.

15w40 is pretty viscous. On start up mine hates 10w. 0w and it starts awesome.

Ok.. to each his own.but.....
Whats wrong with lucas. That stuff has saved me many motors. And/or kept more parts serviceable
I know some ppl think fram filters are crap, or do not work right with jeeps.
But i sure would not use rotella.
Mobil1 or nothing.
Again to each his own.

"0w" has no impact on "lightness". He's running a heavy duty diesel oil - it's designed for tractor engines. And Shell Rotella T5/T6 multigrade 40 weights return some of the best used oil analyses for engine wear next to Mobil Delvac 1."

Salad: YOU need to do some reading. The original poster on 0W-30 said nothing about diesel oil in his post.
