13.5 to 20 Gallon Fuel Tank
So I am getting ready to upgrade my tank from the 13.5 to the 20 gallon. Besides the obvious tank, straps, and a new fuel sending unit, what else needs to be involved? Thanks in advance.

It's even easier. They are the same tank. Cut your filler neck shorter so it will fill more. If your careful you can get it to 25 gallons I believe.

What?? Was this 13.5 Gallon vs 20 Gallon just a scam to get people to pay more for the same actual tank? Bad Chrysler!

If so, Chrysler was out ahead of it. I had a 2005 Toyota that didn't have the up model's day time running lights..... Until you put the missing fuse in the block. Car makers are sneaky.

It was Jeep, not Chrysler that did that.

No. The pick up tube is shorter on the 13.5 gallon tank and the sending unit is different. It holds 20 but you can only get 13 out.

This makes total sense. I've been looking at the tanks thinking, did they just make the inside smaller and keep the outside the same size? lol
Ok so fuel sending unit- anything else I should be looking out for while I'm up in there?
Thanks!

maybe they did the same though, someone can probably confirm whether or not what I'm saying is true or not, I'm only guessing.

they're talking about the renix XJ, so I'm not sure if it's the same thing as your 99 where the fuel tank was changed for a plastic one with other things also changing.
