15 AMP fuse keeps blowing out
Hey everyone! After weeks of scavenging the forums haven't yet found an answer for my issue. So pretty much I was sitting at lunch with my AC blowing and it just completely cut out. Didn't think much of it till my engine got hot and the aux fan wasn't engaging. Turned my jeep off and found that the #11 or 15 amp fuse was blown. Tried replacing it and it immediately blew. I've tried unplugging my compressor and still also tired unplugging my fan same deal. Tested for continuity and both AC and Fan are fine. Could a worn out AC clutch cause the short? Looked at the diagrams its the only thing I haven't checked for. The issue is this one fuse controls so much and need it fixed soon especially with how hot its been. Thanks!

Looks like you got a list of what that fuse powers. so disconnect those items, disconnect the relays that power the fan and ac clutch for example. then install fuse, does it blow up right away? Also when you say blows right away, do you mean with the AC and fan on?

To prevent yourself from blowing fuses over and over, get a test light and clamp it to +12v and probe on the load side (the side that lights up) of the fuse holder. Start unplugging those loads and when the light goes out, no more short.
It could also be wiring, in which case... that sucks.
Well, good luck!

No, was wondering if you did. I tried with ac off, blew. With stereo off , also blew. Seems to blow within 5 minutes or so engine been running. Have not unplugged cooling fan to test. Also, ac compressor is new, but still blows even if ac if off.
While it is the ignition fuse, car starts even if fuse is blown...not sure what to make of that..

Still at it
Hello. I know this is.from last year, but still at it. New Summer, so now needing ac. I have cold air for about 15 minutes, then starts blowing hot air. Check fuse and it's blown. It's the ignition fuse, 15A, but ignition is fine; starts just fine. And ideas, suggestions, comments please.

Yes, free download the Factory Service Manual for your year from this site, look at the relevant section.
If you cant solve it, post up the diagrams
Attempting to solve electrical problems without reviewing the circuit diagram would probably be why you do not have it fixed yet

I had the same thing happened to my ignition by-pass switch (95 XJ) and my cousin who is a certified electrical mechanic tech suggested to use a 20 amp fuse instead, so far so good!

I noticed manuals have gone missing from some sites, including @cruiser54 (says it cannot be downloaded securely)
