Default 1974 jeep cherokee carb issues

i have a stock 1974 jeep cherokee. has a 4 barrel stock carb.

just bought it and carb needs rebuilt. just curious too see opinions on the factory carb, would it be worth just buying a holly or edelbrock and rebuilding it instead and throwing that on or should i just rebuild the stock one and throw it back on it?

If you are going aftermarket and have a stock motor then I would match the CFM to whatever stock is, this i dont know.

If you dont have any intention on adding any performance upgrades, exhaust, cam etc then rebuilding your stock one will likely give you the best bang for your buck, A carb that flows to much can actually hurt overall performance and MPGs (not that your too concerned about that driving a 74)

The Edelbrock works great.

If you can rebuilt it yourself and want to keep it stock go for it,If you want something newer or maybe upgrades later then go aftermarket whatever brand you like.
