1986 Jeep Cheroke Chief 2.8L v6
Hello everyone, just bought the car I always wanted, a 1986 Jeep Cherokee Chief 2.8L v6. It has 200,000 miles on it but only two owners so it's in great shape for 30 years old. A few offroading dings here and there and some faded/peeling paint but almost no rust, couldn't be happier with it.
I think it was in storage for a few years, just the initial work I've done on the engine has made it run a bit smoother. Pretty sure I drove it 1200 miles home only firing on 5 cylinders. When I pulled one of the spark plug wires it just disintegrated in my hands. Got an oil leak somewhere which might end up being a hassel. Checked all the fluids except trans but that and reconnecting some vacuum lines is what I'll be working on today. Got a few questions on some loose ends. I'll try to get a few pictures of the question areas.
And then there's the dreaded CA smog test. Failed the first attempt.
HC(ppm)
MAX-15mph - 119
MEAS-15mph - 162
MAX-25mph - 79
MEAS-25mph - 154
NO(ppm)
MAX-15mph - 767
MEAS-15mph - 2965
MAX-25mph - 798
MEAS-25mph - 2443
Hoping that getting all the vacuum lines connected might help a bit, but that NO has to come down a lot. Maybe replace the EGR, guy gave me a free one with the Cherokee anyways so I already have the part. Was also going to pour some Seafoam in the gas tank and oil. Running premium fuel til the next test. Any other ideas?
