Default 1990 Crank no-start

I have done the good old google search and didn't realy find anything. So here it goes:

1990 JK "wagoneer"
4.0 (auto if it matters)
police impound.
brought it home took the ign. switch out and jumped it. it ran fine. Small fuel leak from around filter but it ran ok. That was two weekends ago. Now this weekend went to start it (and put new ign. switch in among other things.) and now it dont want to start.

So after telling that, two questions
1. is there a common problem on these that can cause this?
2. I put a "cold" air intake (checker DIY cheapo stuff) and in doing so took the air box out, attached to it was a "vent" of some kind on the front of the box that went to the under side of the intake someplace. had what looked like a regulator & vaccume line that didn't attach to anything. What is that and would it cause a no start?

Thanks for looking......I hope to get it runnin and a lift/tires on soon.

Yea buddy i almost guarentee thats what it is. you probably wont have back up lights either. Its located on the upper drivers side of the transmission case you can get in there and clean them, you usally dont have to replace them. let me know if it works!

Check for fuel pressure. If it is cranking then its not the nss. Pull the coil wire and check to see that it fires if it doesn't then look at putting in a crank sensor.

So it wouldn't crank with a bad/dirty nss? Good to know, cause my truck and some cars still will.

If it goes to the air tube I think it is for crankcase ventilation. Or... evap

Not sure yet. I haven't gotten that many miles on mine yet. When it breaks rest assured I will be on here to figure it out.

The AW4 tranny is pretty good. I would do a filter and fluid change if it's been sitting.
