Default 1990 Jeep Cherokee Pioneer A/C Build

Sir/Ma'am:

I have an old 90 XJ Pioneer with the 4.0 and A/C installed. The A/C has not worked since I owned it and I am looking to rebuild it. I would like to update the system to accommodate the new coolant used. Can anyone tell me what all I would need to do this? I am going off the assumption that it needs every new part in the system and all the garages in my area are asking 1500 to do it. May try to go it on my own and looking for some SME input - it's hot in Alabama

I would first make sure it is actually dead by bypassing the low pressure cutoff switch and seeing if to compressor comes on. If the compressor come on it just needs to be purged and refilled.

It depends on what reason is making it not work. Might be something simple. But since it's that old I would convert everything over to R134a. My 1993 was R12 and I just took every component from the firewall out off a newer XJ in the junkyard. Except got a new drier and replaced all the o-rings
