Auto or manual? If an auto, once you have checked the bulbs and their housings for any corrosion, rock the shift stick around in the R position and have someone check if they try to flicker on at all. This would be easier to see in the dark or with the lens off, or both, as it may only be a very brief flicker of light. If so, the contacts in your Neutral Safety Switch will be the culprit. If you ever have any issues with starting when in Park or Neutral, this would further indicate the NSS contacts. For me, I was only having issues with my reverse lights. If you can remove the NSS in one piece, it's easy to open up, clean out the old sticky grease, clean the contacts and re-grease with a di-electric grease.

From the 1990 diagram the reverse lights are powered by the same circuit that powers the transmission module so if you have no shifting issues when driving in D, the fuse for the lights should be fine. From the 1995 diagram it is a separate fuse. I don't have a diagram for 1992 so it could be like either example.

boxburn is right, it is time to change / rebuild the neutral safety switch. The reverse lights on my 92 are out, and it occasionally will not start without wiggling the shifter. The solution was cleaning and rebuilding the switch. It is easy to rebuild, and new ones are expensive. You can find a tutorial on here on how to do it.

Assuming it's not the bulbs or a wiring issue, it's likely the NSS. BleepingJeep has a good video on refurbishing the switch.
