Happy New Year! to all. I just got into my rear main seal today....yes it is down right awful! Anyway I replaced seal, and oil pump and now I must wait till Monday to finish it but for the life of me I cannot find info on a piece that I took off of the oil pan, maybe under the oil pan. I believe it is referenced as the 'bearing cap cover' maybe. Thin half circle shaped metal bracket held up with I believe 2 bolts ( shop is closed forgot to take a pic and cannot find it on the net ). It goes i believe between the gasket and the cap? which does not sound right to me but again I cannot remember where it was upon disassembly and cannot find a single video on the tube where someone speaks of it, puts one on or takes one off nor a pic of it online for that matter. I take pics of everything before I take something apart but this one eluded me. Any help would be much appreciated.

There is a small strap that goes on the outside of the oilpan under the rear two bolts.

Not an XJ, but you can see the strap in this picture.

It's called the "oil pan support bracket". I'm guessing it's a dealer item. You find the part number in the link post #4 below:

Thank You!...I see it now and that makes sense I just could not remember removing it.
