What would cause my check engine light not to work?its not the bulb I know for sure. I can’t figure it out.
Thanks

Click the key forward and back 3 times ending with it forward at run...it should flash 55 at you at the least.

There’s no light to flash. I mean there is a bulb in it and it’s good, but for some reason it doesn’t light up

Try swapping it with another bulb/socket that does work. If it still refuses to light, the printed circuit in the cluster may have a shorted lead. Look for any breaks, nicks, or burns. Doubkecheck the contacts for the socket, too. I have never tore a cluster apart before so i dont know what all is back there.

I did that with the brake light bulb that I know works. So I’ll go over the printed circuit and see what I find. Thanks,I didn’t even think about that. I know there are a couple bulbs missing and I was thinking about putting some bulbs in the spots to see if it completes a circuit. At this point I’m about desperate cause I don’t want to have to buy an OBD 1 scanner for three hundred dollars

You could always grab another cluster from the JY, plug it in to get the code and then return to the original (or just keep the "new" one).

Yeah that’s always an option, didn’t think about that. I was too wrapped up in figuring out why this one won’t work. How is your knowledge in gear ratios? Was wondering if a 3.45 ratio in my rear with a 3.55 ratio in the front would make that big a difference for the 4x4?
