Default 1996 Jeep Cherokee 4.0. Idle issues

The other day I went four wheeling and went through some shallow mud holes no big deal. No issues. Washed all the mud off and cleaned it up drove it 15 min into town with no issues. Drove it back to my buddies house and when I pulled in his drive it sputtered and idled really low and died. I let it sit for a couple hours and drove home no issues. I took it out the next day to go cruising checking the fluids and everything before I left. Also checked codes for the sputtering issue there were none I thought it was a fluke, so I ignored it and drove about 30min to go wheelin when. I slowed down to a stop sign where it sputtered and idled really low and died and wouldn't start back up. I popped the hood and realized the owner before me had wire nutted a new pigtail for the tps. I repaired them thinkin that was the issue. I started it up and it drove fine. 15 min later it did it again. I checked fuel pressure at the rail and it was within spec, so not the fuel pump. I checked all connections to the sensors around the throttle body to make sure they weren't damaged or water logged. I checked all plugs and plug wires still nothing found and no stored codes in the ecm. I hooked up a scan tool after I got pulled home. And let it run and drove it short distances until the problem occurred no codes, but I looked at the misfire indicator and cyl 3 and cyl 6 were misfiring with 76 counts on cyl 6 and 7 on cyl 3. I have come to a conclusion that it is a heat issue with a sensor or connector somewhere, but I need to know if anyone else has had this problem and has some tips I've read some similar threads. But none with enough detail. Ive heard horror stories of the ecm being the issue😟 help please or direct me to some other threads that maybe I haven't seen yet
