1996 Jeep Cherokee Sputtering while Accelerating
So i been having this problem with my Jeep for about a 2 months where when i step on the gas it sputters in the middle of it. Seems to only do i when it gets hot or if i press hard on the pedal. It won't however do it (as far as i can tell) when i step VERY lightly on the pedal.
Took it to a mechanic and had him look it over and told me my Fuel Pressure was at 70 when it should be 49. He wanted to replace the pump he told me cause the regulator is in the pump not on the assembly. Well i got it home and for sure it was on the assembly. Normally these arent replaceable per Chrysler but i took the housing off and did so.
Now its still acting up and im running out of options. Pump is 4 months old(bosch),New filter, it passed inspection leading me to believe the cat isnt clogged. Only things i havent tried are a tune-up,MAP and TPS. ASD code 42 comes up when i cycle the key 4 times. Any help i would appreciate as im stumped and local mechanics dont seem to know what the problem could be ethier.

Haven't tried a tune-up?
Every 30,000 miles:
New plugs, wires, cap and rotor......
I prefer NGK plugs, premium cap and rotor from Napa and Napa's Belden wires.

Been second owner since 2009 and it has sat since 2012. 140,000 miles never tuned as far as I know.
Hoe would I check the tps if it were bad? Im going to do a complete tuneup on Tuesday along with coil and fuel filter. If that doesn't solve it then it's something severe.

I remember when I called Chrysler about the fuel regulator that there was a recall for the PCM something to do with the catalytic converter. Might not mean anything just a thought.
