1997 4.0L Cherokee Starting Problems
Hello, I have a 97 Cherokee that has a starting problem. When I turn the key, it will crank and crank and crank and crank and crank and won't start. I'm getting both fuel and spark, but sometimes it seems like the spark is not there. Sometimes it will start, but my rpms stay wayyyy low (almost at zero) and I have to rev it up to get it to idle smooth. Recently I found if I give it gas while cranking, it will usually start. The battery is still good, alternator is good, the starter is probably good as well, but I have no idea how old the starter is.
So far, I have replaced -
spark plugs and wires
crank position sensor
ignition pickup
cap and rotor
coil pack
These seem like the common culprits for starting problems but I've replaced all of this and it still has trouble starting. If anyone has any tips to what I need to do, please let me know.

What kind of voltage is your battery putting out? Usually a bad battery or bad connection causing low voltage will cause it not to start or idle without some input from the pedal. If not that then possibly throttle position sensor. Maybe pull the idle air control and clean it since it's free and could only help anyway. There's also a strange situation where the cruise or horn circuit will short in the clock spring and it messes with the ground to the TPS causing a false TPS problem. Is your check engine light on or airbag light?
