1998 jeep cherokee - deer hit - scratches and need plastics/paint?
Hey all.
I have an old 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport which I’ve had since 2004 and it’s been quite good to me. A couple weeks ago I was driving at night here in Missouri and a deer hit me. The deer hit the back driver’s side area near the back tire and knocked off two pieces of plastic trim and left some scratches in the paint. The jeep is old and not worth much, so I don’t want to spend a lot fixing it, but would like to at least try to get the scratches out as best as possible and replacing the plastic trim. Will look at working on my rust problem in the spring when it gets warmer.
I got 2 different estimates for the jeep – one was ~1,200 and the other one was ~1,300.
My plan was to try to see what I can do as far as buffing the scratches out – any recommendations on what todo or what to avoid doing? Goal would be to see what I can do on my own without re-painting. If I should just get it re-painted, then I will get someone to do the repaint job. Not a car person, but can follow instructions and youtube videos. Also looking for a place to get plastics without paying dealer price. Looks like I’ll need to replace a few pieces.
See link below for pictures and a copy of one of the estimates.

Appreciate any thoughts/suggestions.
