1998 XJ AT AW4 Control Solenoid Question
Hello guys,
Been having quite a large number of issues with my transmission lately.
Originally, I threw a code for a bad shift solenoid (would'nt downshift when slowing down). Went to Oreileys and picked up what they told me was the correct "2-3 shift solenoid" This solenoid had external wires attached to it, which I was unsure of.
Long story short, I took it to a shop to have the solenoid put in, and the dude said he took the two wires, grounded one, and used the other to connect to the transmission. Now, it shifts even worse and I stopped driving it as soon as I could, and now I plan to replace all three solenoids myself.
My question is:
What is the difference between these solenoids in the $200+ range per solenoid (see below)
https://www.autozone.com/drivetrain/.../jeep/cherokee
as opposed to these MUCH cheaper ones on Amazon (3 for $60):
Also, as both Autozone and Oreileys couldn't seem to tell me, what is the difference between the solenoids with and without wires? Both came up as the correct part for my transmission, but the one I was sold was clearly the incorrect part.
Thanks guys
