Do you mean bolt just the seat cushion from the passenger side onto the driver side? It does on my '88. The only different was a short elastic band that holds the buckle end of the seat belt in position against the console.

You can use just the foam but as other have stated there's a slight difference... Here's a pic of the foam and I've highlighted one of the areas that are different... Just adding foam is a good suggestion but you could get away with it and nobody would probably notice... Technically the upholstery foam is a touch different in the bolster area{outer edges} you can see the slight difference this is a driver's side foam and it's a touch thicker for getting in and out...
But the short answer is yes it will work and there's only a few hog rings that need to be replaced... I've got more pics in my build thread from the heated seat grid install or you can PM me if you need more help.. You could easily do this yourself...And lastly, the drivers foam is usually good it's the upholstery that's usually bad unless it was used way beyond the upholstery ripping... At the local boneyard I can get the whole bottom for $5 if you take if off yourself...That would be an option as well..

The foam is glued to the seat pan. As long as the pan is in good shape, you can pull off the covers and swap them. My driver's side cushion was too far gone but I found a set at a local salvage yard.

That's the part that overhangs the seat base so there's no support. So getting in and out, sitting sideways on it while working on the door, etc, over the past 20+ years of my ownership finally did it in.
