1999 Sport vacuum diagram
OK, so I can not get the air to come out of anywhere but the defroster. Read all the posts about finding a vacuum leak. CAN NOT find a leak anywhere! Started tearing my console/dash apart but not enough room to really see anything.
Does anyone have a XJ vacuum diagram for the HVAC system they could send me????
I am very frustrated by not being able to fix this!!!!

Get down and look inside underneath the passenger side of your front bumper. There is a small plastic vacuum reservoir in there. If that reservoir acquires a leak or if the vacuum hose comes off of the reservoir, it kills your heater controls.

I can (almost) always only get heat to come out of the defrost vents regardless of where the 'heat control slider' is. thanks in advance for help!

I am taking it to the shop tonight. The shop has a vacum tester that not only tests vacumm but also pushes "smoke" into the line so you can find the actually leak.

The vacum hose going through the firewall has been rubbed so much it wore it down. $500.00 to fix has they have to take out the whole dash!
I think I will jury rig it, no way I am spending that kind of money on something so small.

The mechanic that quoted you $500 to fix that vacuum hose is a F***** crook. I don't care if he does have to pull the entire dashboard out. I've done this and it is a PITA but, no where near worth paying that...OMG!!! Don't pay that jerk to fix it. Just make it work however you can, man.

I FIXED IT!!!!!!!!!
DID NOT COST ME A CENT EITHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will post how I did it later but could not have done it without the diagnostic work of the shop guy.
It did NOT require taking the whole dash apart. I will post they simple procedure later tonight or tomorrow when I can take pics.
a teaser: it requires a barbecue square!
