1999 vibration over 60 mph
Hi
Just bought a 99 classic 4x4. Had bad tires and just replaced with new tires alighned. Everythin is dead on- 110k org miles -stock. At about 60 you can feel a vibration doesn't seem to be in steering and goes away once you slow down. Starting to drive me crazy..What else should i check? (iI checked both front unit bearings already and they are good)
thanks

Had a similar problem recently (not stock however). After replacing joints, and bushings, low and behold I had an unbalanced tire. The shop I took my wheels and tires to get mounted put too much wheel weight on one. So try swapping your front tires with the back and see if it makes a difference.

Well took front driveshaft off and vibration definitely lessened. I couldn't realy cruise at 70 (bad traffic) but there was definitely less vibration. There is still something there- swapped brand new tires around no difference . Couple of thoughts
Checked rear driveshaft it didn't have any twist or movement at all
Could bad u joint in back be problem?
Needs front rotors bad grooved etc... Would this cause vibration?
Shocks probably need replacing that wouldn't cause vib on smooth road?
Anything else worth checking.
Thx

control arm bushings ?
I have a '99. Had a very bad shake after bumps @ 60 mph & up. It ended up being worn out bushings on the control arms. Mechanic fixed it. May not be the same thing though as this was very violent shaking. It did go away when slowed down to 50 mph or so.

Just replaced rear ujoints and will test at speed tomorrow . I did do full inspection (again) and one of front control arm bushings( at axle) looks shrunken ? The rubber touches on one side(frame mount) but not the other. I checked PS and same front mount bushing appears squished slightly on both ends. Could this be my problem and how hard is it to replace contol arm bushings?
Thanks
Thanks

making progress. Replaced rear ujoints. Old ones looked bad but were all there with some grease in them. Seems to be smoother with new ujoints but traffic is terrible lately and havn't had time for open road. I'm guess I'm going to replace tranny mount seems like it has to much movement. Also one lower control arm probably needs replacing.

same thing is happening to my brothers cherokee its either the sway bar bearings are bad, needs new shocks, or your drive shaft bearings are going out
