Hi Guys,
I've recently bought a 1999 XJ Cherokee Classic. I'm a Brit and working in Iraq, just to give you a heads up on the context...can't easily get hold of spares or replacements, or find the most competent mechanics... it's also summer, so you can imagine the heat. here we go
When I bought it, the AC wasn't working. On opening it, it was clearly shot and rusted solid. It was a Fujicool F8220-7. When the 'specialist' took a look and worked on it, he replaced the compressor, condenser, hoses, cleaned the system and recharged it. The replacement compressor was Chinese match, but can't find it online! It worked really really well for a while, then seized. Two of the pistons in the compressor were broken. He replaced it with the same model (after cleaning) and again worked well, but not as good this time. A week later, it stopped again and the second presumably seized.
So now i'm here to try to find answers. A broken piston suggests overheating, if that is possible?
Any thoughts much appreciated
