Default 1999 XJ wheel crunch

My 1999 Jeep XJ has been giving me a "crunching" sound when I pull into my driveway. Seems worse when turning right. No problem on the highway or general driving on the streets. Just when pulling slowly into the driveway and turning the wheel. Coming from the front driver side wheel. I'm guessing bad wheel bearing or U-Joint?? Something else???

Just the tire rubbing the flare when you go up and down the driveway apron

you may be right. I have a 1999 xj and just this fall finally had to replace my wheel bearings and u joints.. I had the same clunking sound before but not since making the repairs. those are easy fixes anyways. one way to find out is to pull the wheel off and cut the wheel so you can see in behind it. try turning your hub and watch the u joints.. you'll able to see if there's any play

Similar story here. Replaced both sides at 180k when the passenger side started to grind. Manufactured obsolescence .
