I am going to be purchasing a Rough Country 3.5 inch lift with control arms. My Cherokee is completely stock as of this point (sadly enough) and I am going to begin building her to glorious beauty. I would love to fit 33in. BFG A/Ts on her after the 3.5 inch lift but am uncertain as to whether or not this is possible. I know I can fit the 32s on her after but I would love to fit the larger tires allowable without cutting and trimming. I will be running stock five-spoke Grand Cherokee wheels and am hoping to keep the rig as square, level, and clean as possible. I will not be doing any strenuous wheeling; it's more for trail driving. Anyone (and I'm sure MANY of you can help with this rudementary question) that can help, please do. This is my first step in the build and I want the old girl to look as clean as possible. If anyone needs anymore info from me to help with the answer, please let me know. you can fit them but it will require a bit of trimming to do so even at 5 inches of lift you will need to trim the wheel wells are not large enough for anything bigger then about a 31 with out modification to the fenders like trimming and bumpstops

Maybe some 33x10.50s and bumpstops. But not 12.50 wides on stock wheels.

I'd go with the pizza cutters if I were you. Especially if you want it to be square and Cclean without trimming.

33s are tight on even 5" like A1 said just because of the wheel wells. But I don't think you'd run into any major problems stuffing the 10.50s with some bumpstops and maybe trimming of the inner fender.

When I had a home made 4" lift I was running 33x12.50x15 on aftermarket wheels and had to trim a good bit inside the front fender and a little on the front flair. Like said above your best bet is 33x10.50 but trimming inside the fender will be required and with the back spacing on the factory wheel it may rub you lower control arm a little at full turn.

Thank you all for your replies and educated/experienced answers. Jd4, Im not too sure what the back spacing is off hand. Broncofire, you brought up the idea I had originally with fitting pizza cutters, the 10.50s as you had said. My hope is that I can get the tires to sit flush with the fender flares. Let me ask then, in your opinion(s) will stuffing 32x10.50 look ridiculous? I certainly DO NOT want to run tires that look absurdly small with the lift. I want it to look as clean as possible, all the while remaining Jeep practical. I do appreciate all of the replies and am certain that this is a phenomenal community. God I love Jeep.

To each his own in my opinion when it comes to looks about a car. What might look awesome to one might look rediculous to another. I agree with the pizza cutters idea though. It will keep everything squared up and you will not have to do anything to the "outside" of the fenders. Good luck.

You will definately have to do something the the outside of the fenders if you ever plan to disconnect and drive off road with 33x10.5's.

Have you tried a search? There is a ton of info already posted... Why a rough country lift if I might ask. I think if you search here and at www.naxja.com you may change your mind on the rough country.

I hadn't heard anything bad about the RC lift and was considering it because of the price of the lift in comparison to the components included. If you are familiar with any negative characteristics of the lift, please feel free to save me time and frustration.
