2.5L Crank Pulley & Front Main Seal
Alright, Here's the Skinny: I've had a really annoying squeel at about 2800 rpm that has been really pissing me off. Almost every accessory is new within the last year (P/S pump, Water Pump, Alternator, Idler Pulleys) so I know they are fine. I have some play in the harmonic balancer, not excessive, but enough to replace before getting worse and she's NOT leaking oil. I'm thinking that the squeel is actually the balancer grooves getting worn from dust and the s. belt is slipping (I run my jeep 35+ miles a day on desert dirt roads for work). Has anyone had or heard of this problem? It's also recommended to replace the front crank seal the same time as the balancer. I've heard you have to drop the oil pan and also heard you don't (Chilton's manual says you do but that manual sucks). How big of a pain is it really to replace the seal and do you really need special tools?
Off topic question: I want a 2 door xj with a 4.0 and 5-speed manual. What was the last year they made them? I want the newest year possible or the best year they made them in terms of axles etc.
You guys rock! Thanks for all the help in the past!
