Default 2.8l timing question

I’m looking at adjusting the timing on the 2.8l and I’m a little confused on what degree I should set it.

im reading online that it’s 8-12 degrees advanced.

the manual doesn’t really say. It implies it to be at 0.

I attached a photo of my engine label.

i don’t fully understand its units.

is 700 (N) the rpm?

what is man. 17+- 2?

thanks for the help.

What do the 17+- 2 mean? Also the 2100 (N) what measurement is that?

Your crank pulley dampener has top dead center marked. When you disconnect the vacuum advance on the distributor. You set the idle adjustment screw so that the idle is at about 700 rpm. Then set the timing at 17° before top dead center. Then reconnect the vacuum to the distributor and check idle speed and re adjust if necessary. There is a switch on the high pressure power steering hose that actuates a vacuum motor on the carb linkage that advances the engine speed 100 rpm when you have pressure in that hose.
