2 Door v.s. 4 Door
I couldnt find a thread for this but im in the market for a cherokee and I found a 97 XJ (manual) that is two door and was wondering if there is an advantage or disadvantage with the 2 door as far as lifting. To me the shorter wheelbase would make it easier to flip but this is my first jeep so I really dont know

They are basically the same. The 2 door models have longer doors-More weight on the hinges, and some feel that they don't have the structural integrity of a 4 door as they do not have a b-piller like the 4 door.

I'm a fan of the 2 door look but when it comes to feeling safer... I would take a 4 door any day... just feels a lil safer... cuz you dont have that big side window panel in the 4 door so you have a lil more helpin the vehicle stay up in a roll over

Longer wheelbase makes it easier to climb up steep hills. The front tires grab and pull you up.
Both have pros and cons but are pretty much equal. Get whatever you need. Big family, four doors. Single or couple, two door.
Are the wheelbases even different?
I personally like four doors cuz I don't have to get out in order for my rear passengers to exit. It was a hassle in the TJ. (passenger) "I gotta pee! I gotta pee!" (me) "well go then!" (passenger) Get out so I can get out!" (me) (groans).....

i dont recommend a two door to someone with younger kids. To hard to get in and out of the back. With that being said I love having a two door and don't have any mistakes yet so it works out great. Better looking to. Downside for me tho is going doorless is a pain in the ***** as the doors weigh a ton and are hard to put back on by yourself.

4 doors are stronger structurally. 2 doors can have problems with the doors dragging in the jam. A 4 door is just more practical and better for any kind of outdoor lifestyle.

I would definately have to agree!!! It is certainly a heck of alot easier when the rear passengers can get out by themselves
