All of those look really nice. I have a 4 door but I think my next one will be a 2.

My first xj 2000 with 94 engine I get a lot of people saying wow I haven't seen a 2 dr before. Only complaint is how far back the seat belt is and my stupid friends can't figure out how to get in the back seat

New to Jeep. Sister just gave me a '96 XJ 2 Door. She got it from neighbor for $400, and did A LOT of mechanical & bushing repair. Mechanically, this 116k mi. XJ runs Perfectly ! It's sparse [Extremely Basic]. She's moving out of state and plans to buy a new SUV where she's headed. LUCKY ME !
Now that I have it, I've already got a couple of thou$and in parts ordered. I'm like a Tinkerer on crack. The cosmetics of this 2 Door are ROUGH. Doors look like someone took a bat to them. Been searching for replacement parts, so that I can block it out and paint it. Two Door, doors are scarce ! Those vented ¼ windows are NICE ! I'd KILL to find those, too. Finding that replacement weatherstripping is VERY limited for these.
I'm also interested in [updating] the rims to 16s. Craigslist, locally, has Tons of Take-Off sets for next to nothing; but, as is quickly becoming Frustrating with Jeep, there is nearly NO Consistency in their vehicle production. What I mean is, bolt patterns & offsets vary Quite Significantly in just a few years. 5x4.5 5x5 .... 0 offset, +27mm .... Frustrating !
Can anyone tell me With Certainty what [later year] Jeep wheels will fit without spacers ? Tirerack isn't even reliable, as they show wheels for a certain year under "OE Fitment" with offsets ranging from -6 to +27 ..... WTF ?
Anyone know of a supplier for weatherstrip ? I've spent HOURS scouring the net for the ¼ window w/s. Interior Liftgate Panel breaks at the [low mounted] 3rd brake light EASILY from what I'm finding out. EVERY XJ in my year range being parted out that I've contacted have been broken at the same spot. Frustrating.
Now, I'm excited [with trepidation], that I might score some of those vented ¼ windows ... Also, just scored a full instrument cluster on eBay, so as soon as that arrives, I'll get the odometer correctly set, polish the plastic lens, replacing bulbs w/ LEDs and get it installed. Just love fixing up older cars [and motorcycles, and ....]
Anyway, just a shout out to My 2 Door Peers !

Old thread but a good one. I've had two 2 drs. and one 4 dr.. I still own my second 2 dr., an '89 Limited and use it almost daily, although a little less so during the winter. I have an LJ for that!
I'm not sure if it's been mentioned but I would prefer a 4 dr. for camping/overlanding use. I don't use the back seat in my 2 dr. and I wouldn't either with a 4 dr. but having side access to the front of the cargo area would be a plus with a 4 dr. It's certainly doable with a 2 dr. but it is a bit restricted.
