Default 2 questions,,

I just pickup up a used fabtech pre runner tire carrier for a great price and am giong to put it on my 2 dr cherokee, on the roof,, i have never seen this done and am wondering if it will look foolish ,, and 2nd what can i do to get more power out of my 4 banger,, after puting my 3.5 inch lift and 30's i am having to climb highway hills in second gear...

Hi, 1- the tire can go on the roof with no problem (I think it will look kool) 2- Re-gear the front and back rears with something like 4.88's...Tj

thanks tj,, what type of shop would change the gears, and how much would it be,?

Most 4x shops can do gears and expect to pay around $1200. Putting the tire on the roof might actually hurt what power you do have by giving you more drag. Plus it makes it more top heavy and if you wheel it it catches every low branch you get close to.

$1200 for regearing? That is super expensive. Locally here it is $150/axle for labor obviously not including parts.

My buddy price is around $50 and gears are $400+ and carriers are extra but most shops charge about $200-300 per axle around here. $1200 is the average I see people say on the forums I'm on.
