2000 4.0 stalling
I have a mechanical question for you guys. My 2000 XJ 4.0 at times will stall out after running it hard in the woods for a bit. The tach will jump around, it will start to misfire and then die. Shut it of and start it back up acts like nothing ever happened. One time it happened while I was driving down the road and acted like it wasn't getting any fuel. Hit the gas and it would rev up really slow but not pick up any speed and would be misfiring. Shut it of start it back up and it's fine. Just trying to get some ideas as where to look or what to replace for this type of issue. Thank you in advance for any information!

From my past experience, when an XJ with the 4.0 engine has "both" the P0340 and P1391, while it certainly can be the crank sensor, it is more often the camshaft position sensor that is failing. They can be tested.

This is the info I was given to test the ckps. hope this helps dt
To be sure you understand. The CkPS should be recieving a constant 5 VOLTS from the ECU-PCM providing the power to it. Sometimes people get confused about this, since the CkPS sensor also sends an intermittent 5 VOLTS back as a signal...
The connector may simetimes be a flat rectangle, round style, or more oval like the one below (which is probably the one your Jeep has?). The wiring and connector pin/terminals identification remains the same.. So long as you are looking at it oriented correctly with the center tab thing how it is shown below. I don't know all the wiring colors leading to the CkPS connector. I know the ground should be a tan brownish/yellow tracer wire though since it is a Chrysler...
You want to be able to see a constant 5 VOLTS to the A-pin/terminal supply, coming to it from the PCM with the ingnition key turned.
A= Supply B= Ground C= Signal
