Default 2000 4.0l help.

Alright so I'm getting a 2000 jeep 4.0 from a family friend he blew the motor. I did locate a motor. salty but I guess this motor is hard to get (so I have been told) $775 plus tax has 134000 on it. I know its not going to be easy, but my first question is how hard will it be to replace the motor is there any tips on how to make the process easy. Also befor or after I install it should I replace anything. I think my last question is what kind of oil should I use full syn ? I want to try and get the best life I can out of the motor I'm buying
Thanks for your time..

Just a word of warning, the 00 and 01 Jeep 4.0L use a head casting that is prone to failure- probably why the orginal motor "went". So the first thing you would want to do is make sure you get a warranty with the new motor- something that guarntees its good (assuming it's also from a 2000 or 2001). After you make sure you have that pull the head and take it to a machine shop and have it checked for cracks. If it passes install a new gasket set and swap that motor in. Easy-Peasy.

It has been suggested that because of the design of the cam/lifters that the oil should have zinc in it. I run Brad Penn brand oil, as it has the proper level of zinc in it.
