2000 cherokee electric door lock doesn't work
Just bought this car. The remote locks and unlocks all doors fine. The door unlock switches on both front doors work fine... just the electric door LOCK doesn't do anything. Anyone have any ideas?
PS looks like someone installed some sort of after market car starter, etc.

Wiz...
Not sure exactly where you want me to apply power. Remember the remote control both locks and unlocks fine, and the electric doorlock switches both unlock fine, but the door lock switches (on both doors) will not lock the doors. I'm baffled and seeking some guidance.

AAAAAHHHH!
there is a rod that runs from the door lock button (not the unlock/lock switch, but the manual button).
That rod has come loose from either the lock side or the button side. I'll see if I can find a diagram for you.

No rods have come loose. key fob remote locks and unlocks all doors fine. Door mounted switches will just unlock all doors fine but both door mounted switches will only unlock doors... will not lock doors. My thoughts are electrical but where?????? My Haynes does not offer much help... will attach the pages...

Sounds like the problem is in the actual switch panel. You can take the switch panel out in literally five minutes. It just pops out of the entire door bezel.

As for the owner of this thread i would look at the passenger door controls. Look for a broken wire in the door jam wiring boot. They like to break there. If you cant fand anything there then i would take out the passenger control switches and resolder the connections. They tend to get old and crack which make it stop working.
