2000 Cherokee-Hubs won't disengage
The front hubs are always engaged and when I shift the transfer case into 4wd, the indicator light doesn't come on. Any ideas? --- GeezerD

The front axle and drive shaft turn with the wheels on a 2000. The hubs are fixed. There are expensive kits to make the hubs selectable. This requires changing your wheel bolt pattern.
As for the light on the dash. Does it come on when you just start the Jeep? if not the bulb is blown. If it does come on make sure the harness going to the switch on the transfer case is connected. The switch could have died as well. It is a pain to pull but that may be what you need to do.
I would recommend changing the fluid in the transfer case if you do not know when it was changed last. It is easy to do.

my part time/full time lights don't light up when I start my jeep...
Its most likely the switch on the T/case for the position light IF 4WD works.
IF 4WD does not work i would check the linkage like stated above.

You don't have disconnectABLE hubs... Forget the lights for now, could be bad bulb or switch.... When the Transfercase shifter is in 2HI are you in 2wd or 4wd? Which Transfer case do you have?

It has the Command-Trac transfer case and the 4wd works fine. It is somewhat difficult to return to 2wd,which makes me lean toward the linkage suggestion. I won't get a chance to crawl under it and poke around until next week, but thanks for all the input. Will let you all know what I find. ----------------------------Thanks again--GeezerD
