Default 2000 Cherokee loud intermittent bang noise when at idle

So I’ve had this issue the entire time I’ve owned this Jeep and never really looked into it. There’s a loud pop or metal sounding bang noise intermittently one loud pop every maybe minute or two while at idle only when it’s cold. It’s not causing any issues rather than just being annoying. Is it the starter hitting the flywheel or something similar? Everything else works just fine. Literally haven’t found anything about it anywhere so some help would be appreciated have no idea what this is but would like to get it solved at least.

Ac clutch engaging? Motor shakes enough that something like the exhaust hits something? One of the ac/heater vents trying to open/close repeatedly?
Might post a video so we can hear it…
I would take the belt off and run it like that to see if it is assessory related.

if it is coming from the drivers side, you may have a exhaust manifold leak.

Maybe it’s could be ac related I know my compressor could probably use replacing but it doesn’t sound like a noise the compressor would make. Just a loud bang noise once then idles normally no strange sound then a minute or so later another bang. Definitely not the exhaust. Might try to post a video of the sound later if I get a chance.
