Default 2000 Cherokee shuts off when it’s been raining/wet roads

Alright so I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee xj 4x4. I have been chasing a ghost for weeks. So she runs like a top when it runs which is 90% of the time, but when it rains she will run fine but after a little diving she will sometimes drop rpms 2000 rpm to 0 and back to 2000 within 2 second or so, you can fell it. But this happens rarely. But the first time I had an issue was when I stopped to get some hardware. So I parked and I let it run, I go inside buy the stuff to fix my subwoofer I come back out to my Jeep not running. I crank her over and it did not want to start. It would just crank and I was getting plenty of fuel pressure. It sat for about an hour before she started back up, she ran fine until the next rain storm. I drove over to my buddy’s and see he’s not home so I turned around start heading back and bam it just shut off while I was driving. It sits for about 15 mins and starts right back up. I have replaced the motor and trans on her.
Thank you for the help

Maybe a wire is shorting when there is excess humidity or moisture. It seems like a good time to visually inspect wiring for frays, especially around sensors such as the crank shaft position and air flow. Also non-wire electrical pieces like a distributor's cap and coil.
You mentioned that it had good fuel pressure. How was that measured?

Alright so I checked the pressure by pressing the spot where a gauge would got to see how much pressure was there it sprayed a crap load so I assume the fuel system is in working order. And it’s a coil pack rail I look all over it looks fine. Thank you for the the fast response

If you don't want to test the pressure with a freely "rentable" gauge then maybe you can time the flow out of the in rail line into a bucket and post the time and volume. Someone on here might know what the factory flow rate is. I'm not sure that yes it pressurized some and gushes is sufficiently precise. We want to know whether it stays pressurized, how long that it stays pressurized, whether it immediately hits maximum pressure, and whether it keeps maximum pressure when cranking as well as what the pressure is at idle.

Do you have any cracks or tears in your air intake that might not bother the engine much with a bit of extra air, but bother the engine with water in the intake?

After reading your post it sound a lot like a crank sensor going bad .

BINGO! Water splashing up from the road getting electrics wet. I had a hole in my rear wheel well that wet my tail light harness and it went up in smoke! Next time it dies, spray everything with WD40.
