Default 2000 Jeep Cherokee Exhaust issues

Currently my XJ is not running correctly because my computer is faulty. My 02 sensors are not being regulated properly causing a real bad stinch. In the mean time, I am wondering on a stock exhaust system, can I put some kind of Tip on it to push the exhaust out the side of the vehicle, instead of down under the vehicle? I fear CO2 is getting inside while driving. At least until my newley programmed computer arrives in a few days, then hopefully won't be an issue anymore.

I've honestly never heard this term before, but I'm guessing your saying it's running poorly.

What is your exhaust currently made up with? Basically factory setup with complete tailpipe or less than? Plenty of people out there for whatever their reason just dump the exhaust in front of the axle or instead out the side of the jeep right after the muffler. I'm not huge on either option, as I've gotten older I've come to appreciate less inside the cab noise and in either case your dealing with an obnoxious 4.0 exhaust note. Getting the exhaust to run out from under the jeep in whatever direction you'd want is going to be better than it ending anywhere underneath the body. Prefer the back or passenger side for exit compared to driver side - fast food shops, bank drive-throughs etc aren't going to appreciate the noise

If you unplug both front o2 sensors the computer will go to a preprogrammed mode which is not too bad for normal driving...its way better, meaning leaner than what you have now

I think I will try this, but I only have 2 - 02 sensors, upstream and downstream

Then you only need to unplug your 1 upstream sensor

Have you confirmed it's not a bad O2 sensor or wiring? I'm skeptical that it's a bad computer.

I modified the end of my exhaust to get it past my longer shackles. I was able to find an exhaust tip for something like a tractor at the right size that was already flared at one end. I cut off the bend at the other end so I just had the straight part and then clamped it on to my existing exhaust. Also put some of that exhaust Sealant in the joint, has held up fine for a couple years now. Not a great picture but I think you can see what I'm talking about

I'd say go take a look at what they have for exhaust parts at Canadian tire, but I'm not sure what the equivalent would be wherever you are located

nobody could find a short but that’s what it has to be. I don’t think it’s the computer either
