Words can not express my gratitude to both of you for coming to my home and diagnosing my little girls problem. I noticed Jimmy has a head for $200 and saw another post about a part for $110 that I would need in order to modify something.....LOL. Just let me know what to get and I'm on it. I'm, not sure how many are coming to make this repair but I'll make sure you something to eat <chicken,subs,pizza> and for those that like an ice cold chilly one I'll have that covered as well.
I always wanted brothers and now I've got quite a few. When the weather warms I want to go wheelin as I've never done it before and I also like to fish.The next thing I'm thinking is perhaps just a little bit of a lift. Is it possible to put on step rails to make it easier for me to get in and out, short arthritic legs and xj are not a match made in heaven......LOL Enjoy this marvelous weather we are having today and thanks again.

I am getting a list of things together you will need to get this job done. I would go ahead and get a hold of Jimmy and buy that head meanwhile....

PM me if you want it. I am getting it off the block tomorrow so it will be ready to go.
I would suggest new valve guides while it is off....but hey, that's just me. Also, the rockers are in a box and will need re-installed.
In either case, it will be ready. My feelings will not be hurt if you decide against it, but it will be ready.

UPDATE:
Scott (nowhres) and I started breaking everything down yesterday and removed the head. Found a broke exhaust valve on #5. From what I can see, Cylinder walls were in tip top shape
Still not 100% convinced that the head was even cracked, found leaky lower radiator hose while I was underneath figuring out how to get lower exhaust bolts out to remove intake.
Doner head is in, torqued down, and intake/exhaust hooked back up. Will be finishing the job and starting her up next week.
