Default 2000 jeep XJ four-wheel-drive right hand drive back drum brakes

2000 jeep XJ four-wheel-drive right hand drive back drum brakes.

OK folks, hopefully somebody has an answer for this. I have rebuilt my drum brakes and have popping noise issues. And what seems as slow release. It doesn’t happen when I start in the morning and it doesn’t do it at all in the rain. I deliver mail so it’s nonstop breaking. I’m starting to think there’s like expansion and contraction going on here. But towards the middle of my route it will start acting up if there’s no rain. Any suggestions would be nice

Did you check the backing plate to see if the brake shoes have wore a groove in the backing plate .

yes, but that’s the only thing I haven’t replaced. Performs as should in the rain, and delivering mail until I gets hot, then it will occasionally grab for a second on one wheel, the sometimes on the other wheel, it’s just irritating

I guess I will have to replace the backing plates, and if that doesn’t fix it, when I get the money I’m going to have to convert it to discs

315,000 miles on this thing. I’ve pretty much have rebuilt everything on this
