Default 2000 sport head question

Have a 2000 jeep cherokee sport with a 4.0. oil pressure running low not for sure about coolant loss. Was sister-in-laws she gave it to me. It had bad knock sound took valve cover off found the #5 cylinder lifter rod out of the rocker arm. Took head off found the other rod bent really bad. I want to fix it CHEAP and am willing to put a head on it and run it. What do you guys think. all pistons and cylinders are ok.

Buy your self a good aftermark head (0331) this fixes the weak casting of factory head. Buy all new push rods and new rocker arms that had the bent pushrods. Also get new head bolts and a good felpro head gasket, if everything else is fine you should be all set.g/l OIl pressure at warm idle will be around 13-15 psi, then roughly give or take 10 psi for every 1000 rpm + or -.

I agree. If that head comes off, do NOT put a factory 0331 head back on, unless it is an 0331 that is 03 or newer from a Grand or a Wrangler; those heads were manufactured by a Brazilian foundry (TUPY) and do not have the casting defect between cylinders 3-4 which the earlier ones had. Look for the word TUPY between cylinders 3-4. If it has that you're fine, if it doesn't, keep looking. Aftermarket vendors include Clearwater Cylinder Head and Alabama Cylinder head, but both of those will be in the $500-$600 range. Good stuff though.
