Default 2000 sport police cruser

i have a 2000 sport police cruser. i am looking for information on what mods i would need to make. this XJ has a 1/8th" steel plate bolted (from what i can tell) to the frame where a trailer hitch would go.
i have attached a few pics. this doesnt resemble my '92.
what dimensions is a standard hitch?
any and all responses would be greatly appreciated!

respectfully,
Phil

The 92 is a very different Jeep then your 2000. They changed many things in the 97+ Jeeps. I will have to look at mine to tell you more info.

It's a gas tank skid and a recovery hook by the looks of it. Remove the recovery hook, and a hitch will bolt right in. I don't remember the dimensions, but I'm pretty sure a hitch from any XJ will fit perfectly. You already have the nut strip on the driver's side (evidence is the tank skid and the hook) so bolting in the hitch will be as easy as putting it up there with a jack and then putting in the bolts. Your recovery hook should be able to go back on even with the hitch, but I'd use 1/2" longer bolts for it so enough threads go through the nut strip to still be able to use it.

yep just make sure to clean out the passenger side nutstrip bc my was a pain to get the bolts on, just use like wd-40 or pb-blaster and a wired brush and you should be all set
