2000 Sport Tailgate Dome Light Help
First Post here, Hi.
Purchased a 2000 Cherokee Sport about two months ago and noticed the rear dome light didn't come on when you opened the tailgate. Didn't pay any attention to it. Well, two months have passed and its annoying. It comes on when you open the regular doors and thought maybe a wire or something was loose. So I opened it up today and came across what you see in the link below. Seems to be a burnt connector of some sort?

Don't know how it happened, but is there someway I can purchase a new one or fix it?
Thanks
Jeremy

It is the switch, I had the same thing happen in my 99. I decided since it was burnt out just to pull the switch. Light still works when the doors open you just dont have the option of turning it on by pressing the lens.

Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but I just repaired my dome light switch. Pop the switch off of the white plastic piece that holds the bulb, and disassemble it. Mine showed some scorch marks from poor connections, so I dug deeper into it by splitting it apart - the casing is in three pieces, just split it with a thin blade. The inside was a bit of a mess, so I cleaned everything up, pinched the female terminals shut a bit - the middle one was spread apart a bit, added some dielectric grease to the terminals, and reassembled using a dab of RTV. Took less than five minutes.
