There is no "turn it off" option. It's on because there is a fault in the system. It might be a sensor gone bad, or the clock spring has gone bad. Could be a dozen different things.
What Eaton is gently hinting is this: If you know so little about the subject that you would ask that question, you should stay away from this repair. Airbags can be dangerous, and they are touchy.
Please take it to the dealer.

You can diagnose it with a DRB scan tool and tell exactly with the problem is. The problem with mine was an open circuit on the firing squib so the bag had to be replaced. The same code comes up for an open circuit in the clockspring, but replacing that didn't fix it.

Does your horn work?
If it does not, then your clock spring is broken. If it does work, that does not necessarily mean the clock spring is not the culprit.

You need a DRB to read airbag codes, or something else that can, and/or the proper diagnostic manual to diagnose them. Dont mess with the airbag wiring unless you know what you are doing. If it were a 95-96, all you have is the airbag, making it an easy fix. But for 97-01 you have the clockspring, driver and passenger side airbags, airbag control module, and the wiring in between. Dont throw parts at it. If you replace something and there happens to be a short somewhere, the code will come back. You need to know the code, and how to diagnose it. I dont think the light turns itself off. I think you need the DRB for that?
If the horn doesnt work, the clockspring might be (and usually is) at fault, but the horn, contacts, or the wiring could be the problem.

So what would be anybody's best guess for an intermittent airbag warning light? When Ive noticed the light, I have been able to honk the horn so not sure if it's the clock spring or not.
Idea of other things to check?
Thanks, -Kevin

There is not a lot to be done. You can throw a part at it and change the clock spring. Maybe that works, maybe that doesn't.
You need a DRB to read the code(s). Then you really need to know what you are doing to address the codes. This is best left to professionals.
If you don't want to do the above, and don't like the intermittent light...remove the bulb. But that's just hiding an alert to a problem with a safety-critical system. So don't do that.

A DRB3 can cost anywhere from 1200 to 4 grand. Not cheap.
Even if you had one you still need the proper diagnostic manual to diagnose those codes, whatever they may be. For my 97, the airbag is covered in the Body Diagnostics Procedures manual. IIRC, there are over 40 pages for the airbags alone.

With that light on, the airbag will or will not deploy in an accident. Your choice. It's like not wearing your seatbelt and hoping you never need it, again, your choice.
