2000 xj exhaust manifold to front pipe seal
Good morning from sunny CA.
I have a (maybe silly) question, which I am posting for a friend in need...
This friend, who lives in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, owns a 2000 xj, 49 state, which was disassembled and it is now being put together.
Question is: is there a gasket / donut / seal between the exhaust manifold(s) and the front pipe(s)?
If so, can anyone provide a part number? For I have searched high and low and was not able to find any mention of such part anywhere.
Thanks in advance!
Tony

Something like that, I suppose, however I can only find them to fit the 1 piece manifold. I have purchased some and sent them to him, only to find out they were too big. I assumed therefore that the one for the single pipe is larger than the ones for the double pipe

I cracked that pipe a few weeks ago and my shop just cut it out and welded a solid piece in there. So the manifold is welded to the front pipe now. Only $20

those look to be the standard ball and socket style connection, with no gasket required. The pressure of bolting them together makes a solid seal, assuming you don't have any rusted spots or cracks that allow gasses to pass through

There is no type of exhaust gasket there.

Just get it up there nice and tight.
What are you using for hardware?

It's the hardware that came with the torque tubes. I readjusted and retightened and I still hear the leak, its lower than the first try. Going to readjust and tighten again tonight.
