2000 XJ Front Exhaust Pipe
I have a 2000 XJ with a split pipe coming from the manifold and into one before the cat. Having a hard time finding a replacement. Anyone else have to replace one? Thanks

What is the build date of the Jeep?
CA Emissions or Federal Emissions?
Does the pipe that connects to the cat in front of the muffler have a flange or is it slip on?

Hey buddy. The pipe that connects to the cat is a slip on. I haven’t checked the build date. The hanger on the front pipe broke so I might pull it and try to weld it.

That does complicate things.
When You look up exhaust for an '00 it just shows for after that date.
If it is just a hanger and you can weld it probably better off.

it’s a build date of 11/99. Could I replace the manifold and then use the regular 99 single pipe setup?

Plus do you have the one piece or 2 piece exhaust manifolds?

It says follows epa and government regulations on the catalyst sticker nothing about California regulations. I can’t tell if the manifold is one or two pieces but there’s definitely 2 pipes in a Y that come down from the manifold into one and then slip into the catalytic converter.

And I am guessing it looks like this just like this but with out the cats.
Just the Y pipe.
All one piece to the cat you do have.
Your Jeep falls in a weird transition period.
You are not the first guy to post about having trouble finding exhaust parts.
This could get complicated.
Do you know what head is on your Jeep?

Chances are it is Federal Emissions.

It does look like those but without the cats. I guess when it’s time I’m wondering if I can go with the 99 manifold and the rest of the system as follows. The engine is the same so it should work right? I don’t need to replace it right now. I replaced the muffler and tail pipe and the front pipe is actually back up off of the cross member which was my concern in the first place.
The '99 would use a different head.
Thinking you have a 0331 head.
Why I asked.

Try walkerexhaust.com. then use their part number to source the parts elsewhere. I used a direct replacement axle back on my 1991 Civic SI so that it was smooth and quiet. Worked out very well.

Even on the Walker site it only lists for after a 1/20/00 build date.
I wonder if you could bolt on a complete exhaust for a after 1/20/00 build date on one that has a build date before that date.
I don't see why not.
But for it to be a straight bolt in you would have to buy the whole exhaust and that could get pricey.
The problem lies in the fact that before a build date of 1/20/00 it is all slip on and after is all flanges.
With the exception of the back of the muffler to the front of the tail pipe. That is the only part that is still slip on.
It would be that Y Pipe 52439

This gasket 31625

This intermediate pipe 53440

A gasket again 31625

This cat 16117

This muffler 18959
https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/SMU1...ndex=Universal
And that is the cheaper muffler. IMO better off with the more expensive Quiet Flow.
So maybe you could hang that Y pipe and intermediate pipe, cut the flange off the back of the intermediate pipe, and get it to slip on the front of the cat already in the Jeep.
I am not really seeing it though.
I guess there is always the chance you could do that and get a muffler shop to weld that up to make it work.
And I am sure that you could do better on the pricing. I just use the Napa site cause I know where everything is.

Me, I'd hack that flange if nothing else available, and have an exhaust shop handle it from there
