Default 2000 xj sport door trim removal

Anyone removed the plastic trim from their doors? I have a 2000 sport, and I知 honestly not in love with the plastic trim. Reminds me of a chevy tracker or something. I love the straight painted door look, but I知 not sure if those are just glued on or if they池e clipped somewhere. Also, if just glue, how tough was it to get all of it off? Any paint come with it? Color mismatching from sun wear? Thanks!

No just double sided taped on.
There is the fishing line/dental floss trick.
Just get behind it and "saw" it off.
Be careful cause the fishing line or dental floss will cut into the molding.
Some guys are looking for that stuff from time to time. Might be able to make a couple bucks on it.
Nobody liked my idea here:

But I would just dribble some of the 3M stuff I linked on the top of it, give it a couple seconds to work, and should peel off pretty easy.
Paint should not come off with them but....
Probably see some mismatching plus the 3M stuff will dull the finish a little.
But thinking nothing that a good buffing and waxing won't fix.

I used a heat gun and a wide putty knife. Worked fine.
