It's stamped. Look at it:
I don't know who made that illustration, but it's perfect.
HOWEVER, if you see that you have an 0331 head, THEN look down in the oil filler hole and see if it's stamped "TUPY" between the #3 and #4 cylinders. The original 0331 head from 1999-2002 that was prone to cracking does not say TUPY. The TUPY casting is a replacement 0331 head installed from 2003 on that allegedly had the weakness fixed.

Any used vehicle that's been subjected to neglect will be a money pit. I'll bet 85% of the population can tell you names and specifics of TV "celebrities", yet can't properly check the oil level in their vehicle or check the tire pressure, washer fluid level...

The head and cooling system were checked and passed. It was indeed the gasket but did not become obvious until last night, when the leak obviously opened up quite a bit. Knowing that it passed inspection and the fact that my radiator cap was spewing coolant, yeah, I wagered a guess and it seemed ok after that. Did your late grandfather happen to have any advice about etiquette? Yours seems to be lacking.

I believe they do know what to look for, pbiancardi, since they correctly identified the problem the last time we had a head issue (cracked). That's why I initially thought it was the head again and they checked it. I've learned a lot about these cherokees since owning it for the last four years, and the head issues, which is why we've decided we're done with it. At this point, with 213,000 miles on it, I doubt the engine is worth sinking another dime into. It'll sit in the yard until I decide to either get a re-manufactured engine or scrap it. I can't afford a hobby vehicle and that's what these 00-01 models seem to be. Thanks to everyone that contributed advice, though.
