Default 2001 cherokee sport swan song?

hey folks a newbie here so please bare with me, i have an01 sport that has 108k, on a 4.0 , ran great then i noticed that the heat was blowing warm at best so i drained the rad and did a flush to reveal the infamous thick sludge, ,so i replaced the rad, water pump, themostat housing, and themostat, also the coolant temp sensor, new upper&lower hoses, and heater hose,, took it out on xmas and she started overheating, about 5-10 miles into the trip, and quit running, i towed it home and and check the oil, was ok not milky, so i drained the oil and the anti-freeze and replaced both, started it up and it ran ok, but as soon as the thermostat opens , the coolant fills the overflow and starts overheating, could it be the head gasket? if so why was the oil ok?, or could it be sludge in the engine similar to that in the rad.? can also hear the coolant run right back into the engine after i shut it off ...sorry for the lengthy post but am really at a loss here, and now down to one vehicle!

sounds like head/headgasket issues, pull your plugs, compression test. remove your rad cap and look for bubles in the coolant when started, this would indicate combustion gasses in the cooling sys.
Good luck

More than likely you have an air pocket in the cooling system.

Start your jeep with the rad cap off and the rad full. Wait for the t-stat to open and watch the coolant level go down. Re-fill as needed. Replace the rad cap.

This should fix the issue.

You have an air bubble in your cooling system somewhere.

Easiest way to get rid of, start it up and rev it up and down for a while, hard revs. When I did it with mine I did this with the radiator cap off and kept doing it until it help a solid temperature.
