2001 cherokee xj anti lock brakes
Hey guys I have a 2001 Jeep Cherokee XJ limited and has Anti lock brakes. My axle is damaged and finding another llike axle has been difficult in the junk yards. Does anyone know if I can swap a non antilock axle in without any issues. Thanks for the help

Yes you can swap in the 8.25 but your abs will never work again and the light on the dash will stay on.To swap it in you need to change out the u bolts and spring plates the u bolts go in and the driveshaft if you don't have a lift.

It's actually my front Dana 30 housing that is hosed. Bent and broke the tab off for the lower control arm on driver side as well as cracked the driver side spindle...

I would just have them rewelded on and plated,The abs not working and light on will be the same if you swap axles. The kicker is the 00-01 used a low pinon dana 30 while the later years used a high pinon. The grand cherokee zj was all low pinion i believe a front axle from that should bolt in and would be easier to find.

Might be a good time to upgrade both differentials for the front a HPD30 from a 99< and a Chry 8.25 from a 97> with the 29 spline shafts. Both are an upgrade over what you have and you can dump the ABS which most all do on an off road XJ.
Best of all are both are direct bolt-ins except for the brakes and that's easy.
