Default 2001 Cold No Start

My 2001 has an intermittent COLD NO START condition.

New battery, starter and positive starter cable. Turns over faster than any of the 3 Cherokees I've owned.

On most cold days (<40 degrees F), it will turn over but not start on first start of the day. After it finally starts, it runs great, as usual.

It takes about 15-20 tries to get her started. It seems to be a no-spark condition as I hear the fuel pump and smell fuel.

Any ideas? I was thinking crank position sensor, but would that be a problem in "warm" conditions as well?

Any help would be appreciated.

Todd

1) it's a PITA with the coil rail but rig up something so you can see if there is spark.
2) Sounds like you probably have fuel but check with pressure gauge
3) when it's cold look at temperature showing on your scan tool. A wonky temperature sensor could do it.
